'Zeds Dead is an electronic music band consisting of duo Dylan DC Mamid and Zachary Hooks Rapp-Rovan. The pair started out by releasing original tracks and a series of remixes about a decade ago. This propelled the two into the spotlight and an international tour. Although they are firmly rooted in the electronic music scene, these two are known by fans to explore subgenres that include house, hip hop, glitch and the UK garage styles of music as well. Zeds Dead has been nominated for or won various Much Music and Canadian Independent Music Awards.'
'
The duo decided to name itself after a character in the popular film
Pulp Fiction
. Although that character met an untimely end, Zeds Dead is still going strong. Mutual friends introduced Mamid and Rapp-Rovan to each other, and they discovered that they both had an interest in hip hop. Although the pair started out remixing tracks from this genre, the musical style naturally started to shift towards electronic and house dance music. The duo's first collaboration was under the name Mass Productions and had a hip hop feel to it. However, it didn't get enough attention to really push the two into a mainstream spotlight. That was the end of Mass Productions, and Zeds Dead was born shortly thereafter. The group started to form a niche audience online and propelled themselves into stardom with early live tours.
