'Wyoming Cowboys Football Tickets'

'The University of Wyoming is represented by the Cowboys football team. The team plays its games in War Memorial Stadium, which at 7,200 feet above sea level has the highest elevation out of all the other college football stadiums in the nation. When the program first started in the late 1800s, it was independent. It joined the Colorado Football Association in 1905, followed by the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in 1909, the Mountain States Conference in 1938, the Western Athletic Conference in 1962 and the Mountain West Conference in 1999. Over its history, the Cowboys team has won its conference championships 14 times. Eight of those winning seasons saw undefeated conference records. The years 1950 and 1956 were undefeated years, including both conference- and non-conference games. Many coaches have taken the helm at Wyoming, including Joe Tiller, Dana Dimel, Joe Glenn and Dave Christensen. Craig Bohl took over in 2014 and is working hard to balance out his overall record. At the end of the 2018 season, Bohl's overall record was 28-35. You can catch the action in person and cheer on the team at War Memorial Stadium. 'What is Wyoming's history in bowl games?'

'The team has made it to 15 bowl games. It all started in 1950 when the Cowboys were invited to the Gator Bowl. The next two decades included three trips to the Sun Bowl and one trip to the Sugar Bowl. In more recent years, the team was invited to the New Mexico Bowl two times with one of the games being a double-overtime victory over Fresno State. In 2016, the program went to the Poinsettia Bowl where it lost to BYU. In 2017, the Cowboys won the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl over Central Michigan.'

'Who are the team's main rivalries?'

'

The Cowboys have a deep history with

Colorado State

. The two schools are in close proximity to each other, and the winner of the matchup gets awarded the Bronze Boot. The game is also called the Border War, and it is one of the oldest interstate rivalries in the west. The school is also competitive with

Hawaii

and

Utah State

. The Paniolo Trophy goes to the winner of the Wyoming-Hawaii game. The teams started playing each other in 1979 and are currently in the same conference. Bridger's Battle is the nickname for the Utah State-Wyoming rivalry. They started playing each other in 1903, and the winner gets a unique trophy: a .50-caliber Rocky Mountain Hawken rifle.

'What are Cowboys games like?'

'Wyoming Cowboys football games are fun and spirited with the student body leading the charge in their section along the sidelines. Seating capacity is almost 30,000 with club seats and suites located in the higher tiers.'

'What is Wyoming's upcoming football schedule?'

'The team starts the season with a home game versus Missouri. Then the team travels to Texas State University, followed by a home game versus Idaho. The Cowboys are back and forth for a few weeks, visiting Tulsa, hosting UNLV and traveling to San Diego. There are three more home games versus the University of New Mexico, University of Nevada and Colorado State. The last game of the season is an away game at Air Force.'

'Who have been some of their notable players?'

'Mike Dirks, a tackle, was an All-American and captain of the team. He led the team to a fifth-place finish in 1967 and a win in the 1968 Sugar Bowl. Adam Goldberg was another award-winning tackle at Wyoming. Fan favorites have been the running backs Jerry Hill and Jim Kiick. Hill helped the team win the 1958 Sun Bowl, and Kiick was a valuable part of the team that won the 1966 Sun Bowl.'
