TD Garden has been a historical place for many sports events like hockey, basketball and tennis. It has a 19,500-person capacity, including 1,100 club seats, and a massive HD entertainment scoreboard in the middle of the arena. After recent major renovations, the stadium now has LED lighting and the Legends Club restaurant and the Hub on Causeway. The Hub on Causeway is a major entertainment and shopping area for fans, and it includes a hotel, shops and apartments. The interior of the complex is very modern with sleek aesthetics for the best viewer experience, making it a great location for the biggest wrestling event of the year.
According to special events director of the WWE, John P. Saboor, SummerSlam is bringing WWE’s biggest event of the summer to Boston in 2020. The four-night WWE events including SummerSlam will bring WWE fans from all over the world to Boston for a thrilling showdown. Last year there was a Top 10 Battle Royale to determine who would go on to compete at SummerSlam.
This year’s SummerSlam takes place on Sunday, Aug. 23. It is part of a four-series event from Friday, Aug. 21, through Monday, Aug. 24. On Friday, the SmackDown LIVE event takes place, followed by NXT TakeOver. The main event, SummerSlam, is on Sunday, Aug. 23, and the last event is the famous Monday Night Raw, on Aug. 24.
SummerSlam 2019 took place in Ontario, Canada and hosted 12 total matches. The main event saw Seth Rollins taking home the championship after beating Brock Lesner. The pre-show had three matches with Drew Gulak vresus Oney Lorcan, in which Gulak defended his cruiserweight title. This matchup was followed by Buddy Murphy facing Apollo Crews, where Rowan swooped in and took down Murphy. Lastly, the Women’s WWE had Alexa Bliss take on Nikki Cross. The pre-show events led to the preliminary matches, where eight more intense battles took place including Becky Lynch, Dolph Ziggler, AJ Styles, Ricochet, Ember Moon, Kevin Owens, Shane McMahon and more. The main event between Brock Lesnar and Seth Rollins was followed up by the much anticipated Raw, where Seth Rollins gave heart-warming gratitude to all of the fans who attend the event.
