Both professional wrestlers and side personalities receive honors or awards at WWE Hall of Fame events. The longstanding tradition began in 1993 with the posthumous induction of wrestler, actor and performer Andre the Giant. Although he was the sole inductee for that year, the Hall of Fame proved a popular tradition that would continue until 1996, when the event went on hiatus until 2004. In addition to individual wrestling personalities from various WWE eras, there are special induction ceremonies for celebrities who have made guest appearances on shows as part of ongoing plot devices within the WWE stories. After the organization changed its name to World Wrestling Enterprise, Inc., in 2002, the Hall of Fame relaunched in 2004 alongside
