''The Wisconsin Badgers have one of the most storied ice hockey programs in the NCAA. After claiming their first NCAA title in 1973 by defeating Denver, the University of Wisconsin-Madison Badgers went on to win the championship in 1977, 1981, 1983, 1990 and 2006. Hockey fans note that the 2006 title is particularly notable because both the men's and women's programs won their respective NCAA championships that year, marking the first time it had occurred in NCAA hockey history. After 2006, the Badgers faltered. During the 2014 and 2015 seasons, the team won just 12 of the 70 games it played. Since 2016, things have turned around under the leadership of head coach and former Badger player, Tony Granato. With Granato at the helm, fans made a big return to support the Badgers' during their comeback. During the 2018–19 season, the team posted 14 wins. With a roster full of young prospects, including several NHL draft picks, there's never been a better time to be a fan of Badgers hockey. Get your Wisconsin Badgers Hockey tickets at StubHub.'

'The University of Wisconsin Badgers men's hockey team plays at the Kohl Center, a facility which they also share with the university’s men's and women's basketball teams. This venue opened in 1998 with a unique design that features two balconies overhanging the playing surface so that fans are as close as possible to the action no matter where they're seated. When it's configured for hockey, this arena can seat just over 15,200 fans, making it one of the largest arenas in its conference. The Kohl Center is also known for its large locker rooms that include lounges and spaces for videoconferencing.'

Tony Granato is the head coach of the Wisconsin Badgers men's hockey team. Granato was named head coach in 2016 and is himself an alumnus of the school. During his playing career at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Granato was a two-time All-American and a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award in 1987, when he racked up a whopping 73 points. After college, Granato went on to play 13 seasons in the NHL, including alongside Wayne Gretzky during the
LA King's
great 1993 season that ended in the Stanley Cup Finals. Granato was an assistant coach for the Detroit Red Wings before accepting his current coaching job at Madison with the Badgers.[1] Notably, in his first year coaching the team, Granato led the Badgers to a 20–15–1 finish, a remarkable improvement over the prior two seasons.
''
Cole Caufield is one of the most highly touted hockey prospects in the world right now, and he plays for the Badgers. Drafted 15th overall by Montreal in 2019, Caufield scored a season-high three goals against
Notre Dame
in his freshman season of 2019–2020. Ryder Donovan is another exciting prospect on the Wisconsin Badgers' roster. Donovan was the first Badger to ever be drafted by the Vegas Golden Knights. He went in the fourth round of the 2019 NHL draft at No. 110 overall. Forward Jack Gorniak, defensemen Ty Emberson and K'Andre Miller are among the other elite prospects playing college hockey for the Wisconsin Badgers.

The Wisconsin Badgers have a long-standing rivalry with the University of Minnesota's
Golden Gophers
. The teams played each other frequently even before the advent of the Big Ten, and their matchups often have a real impact on the year's playoff race. Games between the Badgers and the Golden Gophers are usually hard-fought.
