'West Virginia Mountaineers Baseball Tickets'

'The only thing that's been a part of West Virginia history as long as mining coal and the Hatfield/McCoy Feud is West Virginia Mountaineer baseball. The Mountaineers first fielded a baseball team all the way back in 1892. Although West Virginia only joined the Big 12 in 2012, they are already the second oldest baseball program in the conference. The Mountaineers made their first appearance in postseason play in 1955 before rattling off four straight postseason appearances in the '60s. While the '80s were another successful decade for the Mountaineers, things tailed off in the '90s and through the first part of the 2000s, recent years have seen a resurgence in West Virginia's baseball program. The last three seasons have seen WVU reach the postseason twice, including being chosen as a host team for the NCAA Regional Tournament in 2019. Make plans today to see the West Virginia Mountaineers baseball team live and get your tickets at the world's largest online ticket marketplace, StubHub.'

'Where do the West Virginia Mountaineers play baseball?'

'

Monongalia County Ballpark is the home of the Mountaineers' baseball team. Interestingly, WVU shares use of the stadium with a Single-A Minor League Baseball affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, the

West Virginia Black Bears.

Monongalia County Ballpark opened in 2015 and was a $21 million investment in baseball in Morgantown. The 2,500 chair back seats do hold a relatively small crowd, but capacity is listed as 3,500 thanks to standing room only areas. Monongalia County Ballpark was awarded the BaseballParks.com Ballpark of the Year in 2015.

'

'Are there any West Virginia Mountaineers alumni in Major League baseball?'

'While WVU has been putting players into the major leagues since 1902, there are currently three former Mountaineers on active MLB rosters. Jedd Gyorko who plays third base for the St. Louis Cardinals played for West Virginia from 2008-2010. Also, John Means of the Baltimore Orioles and Harrison Musgrave of the Colorado Rockies were both pitchers for the Mountaineers on the 2013 and 2014 teams.'

'Who is the head coach for the West Virginia Mountaineers baseball team?'

'After seven seasons as the head coach at WVU, Coach Randy Mazey has achieved levels of success that are largely unparalleled in Morgantown. In 2017, Mazey led the Mountaineers to their first postseason in 21 seasons. Coach Mazey did bring some head coaching experience to Morgantown, having been a head coach at East Carolina and Charleston Southern, but most of his experience is as an assistant at some of the nation's top programs. Most notably, Mazey was the associate head coach of the TCU Horned Frogs who put up at least 40 wins every season that Coach Mazey was on the staff. Mazey has already risen to the fourth most wins as a coach in the long history of WVU baseball and has already seen 28 players selected in the MLB Draft.'

'Do the West Virginia Mountaineers have any rivalries in baseball?'

'

WVU's geographical proximity makes it difficult to establish rivalries with other Big 12 schools, but fortunately, there are two universities close to Morgantown that have deep-seated rivalries with the Mountaineers. WVU and the

Marshall Thundering Herd

have long battled for supremacy in the state. Also, the Mountaineers and the

Pittsburgh Panthers

play each other every season in the Backyard Brawl.
