'Since first gaining national prominence in the 1950s, the Washington Huskies basketball program has had many legendary players go on to become NBA superstars. The team is now led by Head Coach Mike Hopkins who has amassed a record of 48-22 in the last two years and has been twice named the PAC-12 Coach of the Year. From the beginning, Washington has been a West Coast powerhouse known for developing rising stars in the NCAA. In the 1997-98 season, the Washington Huskies made it to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen before being beaten by UConn. Since that time, the Huskies has had moments of greatness during regular-season games, including beating No. 2-ranked Kansas. Washington Huskies fans are big supporters of the team, bringing exciting energy to the games, knowing that at any time the team is capable of pulling off that elusive win that will launch it into NCAA powerhouse status. 'As a part of the PAC-12, the Washington Huskies team is faced with some very strong conference competition, including the USC Trojans, Arizona State Sun Devils and Oregon Ducks. But the team's biggest rival is a bit closer to home. It's not just because the team is great but because the team is also state rivals. The Washington State Cougars is always a threat to knock other PAC-12 teams off the top of the conference rankings. Located in Pullman, Wash., which is over 300 miles from the Huskies' home in Seattle, the Cougars have its own winning style. The team's location has created a fierce rivalry between East and West Washington college basketball fans. The state rivalry has been part of the reason this biggest of PAC-12 rivalries has driven the two teams to greater heights.'
'Since its beginning in 1920, the Washington Huskies has won 13 regular seasons PAC-12 basketball championships and three PAC-12 Tournament Championships. The team has also had 17 appearances in the NCAA Tournament. While it advanced to the Final Four in 1953, they have never won a national title.'
