'The National Lacrosse League kicked off its inaugural season in 1987 as a four-team league. In the first year of its existence, the schedule consisted of all four teams playing a six-game schedule with each squad playing three games at home and three games on the road. It didn't take long for the league to prove itself a success and to recognize the need for expansion. In just the third season of play, two additional teams were added to the schedule with two more teams added in 1992. In 2001, the National Lacrosse League came to Vancouver with another expansion and added the Vancouver Ravens as the 11th team in the NLL. The Ravens made the playoffs in the 2001-2002 season but disbanded soon after. The city was without an NLL team until 2013 when Vancouver got back into the National Lacrosse League with the Vancouver Stealth. 'As the only two West Coast teams in the National Lacrosse League, the Vancouver Warriors have already established an intense and still-budding rivalry with the San Diego Seals. The two teams already had some animosity as the two newest brands in the NLL in addition to their geographical proximity driving their rivalry. To further the rivalry between the Warriors and the Seals, the teams were both placed in the Western Division during the divisional realignment that was announced for the NLL 2019-2020 season.'

'Chris Gill will be returning this season as the head coach of the Vancouver Warriors. Prior to becoming a lacrosse coach, Gill put together an impressive playing career that resulted in his induction into the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame. As a player, Gill led the Western Lacrosse Association in scoring twice and was named the league MVP in 1998. Gill went on to play in the National Lacrosse League where he won three NLL league titles. During his NLL playing days, Gill played for Baltimore, Ontario, Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton and Colorado. After appearing in 186 games, scoring 354 goals and recording 235 assists, Gill retired and became an assistant coach with the Colorado Mammoth before joining the Warriors. Gill has also earned three Coach of the Year awards in the Western Lacrosse Association.'
