''The Vancouver Giants is a youth hockey program competing at the highest level of the Canadian junior leagues. Young prospects up to the age of 20 can obtain valuable experience for a future professional career through this program. The Vancouver Giants joined the WHL in the 2001 season. After several successful playoff appearances, Vancouver claimed its very first Ed Chynoweth Cup with a four-game sweep over the Moose Jaw Warriors in 2006. This victory earned Vancouver a berth in the Memorial Cup, which crowns a single champion of the three Canadian major junior hockey leagues. In 2007, Vancouver lost an agonizing seven-game series to the Medicine Hat Tigers in the WHL Finals. However, as the host of the Memorial Cup, Vancouver received an automatic berth into the tournament, where they avenged their earlier loss and beat the Tigers in the finals to capture its first and only cup.
