'The Canadian band Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker, aka USS, is the duo of Ashley Buchholz and Jason Parsons, who produce their own brand of raw, grungy alt-rock, peppered with elements of electronica and electro-pop. Regularly riling the crowd up with their antics, which have included handstands and cardboard cut-outs of famous figures, USS's high-energy live shows make stops in prominent venues across North America, bringing their campfire after-party to fans across the continent.'

Ashley Buchholz and Jason Parsons devote their time to musical collaboration beginning in 2004. Originally known as Team of Captains, they later rebranded themselves as USS. In 2008, they released their independent debut EP, Welding the C:/. Not anticipating the success that would follow the release, the band members briefly split up to pursue non-musical paths before learning that their single Hollowpoint Sniper Hyperbole was in heavy rotation on Toronto's 102.1 The Edge radio station. With this exposure, their careers were relaunched.
In 2009, USS released its debut full-length album, Questamation, which won them the Favorite Group/Duo Award at the Canadian Music Week Indie Awards. A second EP, Approved, followed in 2011. In 2014, USS crowd-funded their third EP, Advanced Basics, making it the first of their discography to be released outside Canada. Their second album, New World Alphabet, came in 2017.
Behind Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker's name and mission
Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker chose its name in large part to align with the band's philosophy of life. When making a life plan, Buchholz wrote the phrase at the top to encapsulate all that he aimed to do in life. He intended the phrase as a kind of mantra to remind himself and others of life's true meaning, which is for people to come together. And that's exactly what USS intends with their music: to bring people together and believe in the limitless possibilities of life.
