History

The Upright Citizens Brigade is made up of Matt Besser, Amy Poehler, Ian Roberts, and Matt Walsh. The group got their start performing at Kill the Poet in Chicago in the early '90s. From there, they began performing a string of live gigs, which were named UCBTV, Conference on the Future of Happiness, Thunderball, Bucket of Truth, Big Dirty Hands, The Real Real World, and Punch Your Friend in the Face. In 1996, the Brigade decided to move to New York. While there, they started performing shows and doing improv training at Solo Arts Group. Later, the Brigade starred in their own TV series on Comedy Central, which aired from 1998 to 2000.
