The UConn Huskies men’s basketball team is one of the premier programs in NCAA Division I. After playing for most of its history as an independent program or as a member of the Yankee Conference, UConn was one of seven founding members of the Big East Conference in 1979. Jim Calhoun took over as head coach in 1986 and led the team through its most dominant phase. Under his leadership, UConn won a school record 629 games and three national championships. In 1999, UConn beat top seed

Duke

in the national championship game to win its first-ever title. Richard Hamilton was named as the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player. In 2004, UConn won a second championship over

Georgia Tech

on the strength of play from the tournament's Most Outstanding Player, Emeka Okafor. In 2011, the team held

Butler

to only 41 points in a defensive struggle to win a third championship. Kemba Walker received the Outstanding Player award. After Calhoun retired, Kevin Ollie took over as head coach and won a fourth championship in 2014. UConn made history as the first No. 7 seed to win a national championship, beating No. 8 seed

Kentucky

in the title game. Catch the exciting play of the UConn basketball team by purchasing tickets at StubHub.
