UCLA is the home of some of the most celebrated names in college basketball history, including Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (then known as Lew Alcindor), who won three consecutive championship titles, John Wooden (the Wizard of Westwood) and Bill Walton, who won two titles while at the school. Before John Wooden arrived in 1948, UCLA had won only a handful of conference championships and no national titles. Wooden then transformed the program into a true powerhouse over the next few decades. His first championship in 1964 began the most dominant phase in Division I men's basketball history. Over 12 seasons, UCLA won 10 national titles, had numerous All-American players and had two of the top three longest winning streaks ever. The first win streak lasted for 47 games between 1966 and 1968. This set the stage for the record-setting 88-game winning streak between 1971 and 1974, which finally ended with a one-point loss to
Notre Dame
. Following the end of the Wooden era, UCLA won another championship in 1995 under Jim Harrick. The team also finished as the national runner-up in 1980 and 2006. Get your UCLA Bruins basketball tickets at StubHub.

UCLA shares its most intense rivalry with fellow Los Angeles school USC. The teams have met at least once or twice every year, dating back to their time in the Pacific Coast Conference in the 1920s and 1930s. UCLA also has conference rivalries with fellow Pac-12 schools
California
and Arizona. UCLA and Notre Dame share a minor out-of-conference rivalry that dates back to the John Wooden and Digger Phelps days of the 1960s. The intensity of the rivalry has waxed and waned over time.
