The UCF Knights women's basketball team was a powerhouse of a program in the early 1980s. During that period, the team was conference champions and conference tournament champions three times. However, the Knights would suffer a long drought until 1996, when they would not only become tournament champions once again but also make it to their first NCAA Tournament in history. Three years of losses later, the Knights would once again bring the heat and would become conference champions and conference tournament champions in 1999 as well as make their second NCAA Tournament berth. Since 2000, the team has won two more conference championships and two more conference tournament championships. The Knights have also had three NCAA Tournament berths, the last being in 2019, which was an exceptional year for both the team and individual players as well.
