In 1983, the program hired coach Jay Bergman, who helped lead the team to eight Atlantic Sun Championships and nine NCAA Regional Tournaments. 'While UCF has had 122 players drafted, only 14 have played pro ball in the last decade. Some of these players have served on farm teams, and some have played in the MLB. Recent MLB players from UCF include pitchers Ben Lively, Eric Skoglund, Cody Allen, Danny Winkler, Chasen Bradford, Mike Maroth and Matt Fox, who also plays third base. Their catchers have included Drew Butera — also a first baseman — and Beau Taylor. UCF Knight Dylan Moore was drafted as a third and second baseman, and so was second baseman Darnell Sweeney, who also plays left field. Clay Timpner and Esix Snead play outfield and center field, while Chad Mottola plays outfield and right field.'
