Tom Keifer Schedule

Best recognized for his role as guitarist and frontman for 80s glam metal band Cinderella, singer/songwriter Tom Keifer took up music at an early age. Keifer released his first solo effort, which took a decade to make, in 2013. The Way Life Goes has garnered glowing reviews. Keifer credits his upbringing for inspiration: ... Well I think that the common thread would be the roots, which is what I grew up on. All the great hard rock bands from the sixties and seventies, that's where I learned to play an instrument and sing and write songs. Also from the people who inspired them, the great blues artists, everyone from BB King to Elmer James to Muddy Waters...

The brilliant Tom Keifer is scheduled to perform at the Akron Civic Theatre in Akron, Ohio. You can stay on top of all of Tom Keifer's upcoming shows by signing up for event updates right here through StubHub.

Tom Keifer Background

Born and raised in Springfield, Pennsylvania, Tom Keifer learned how to play the guitar when he was a child. Soon blues became his first choice when it came to music. In junior high, Keifer took up with his first band and soon after picked up the electric guitar. At one time, he tossed around the idea of ditching high school and chasing down a career in music. But his mother stepped in. She dangled a Gibson Les Paul guitar in front of him - a reward if he graduated from high school. She delivered on her promise and Keifer went on to join the folds of bands like Telapath, Saints in Hell and Diamonds. Keifer threw himself fully into his music to make his dreams of becoming a professional musician come true. He composed his own material and supported himself financially by doing odd jobs. He founded Cinderella alongside his Saints in Hell comrade Eric Brittingham. Defying his shyness, Keifer choked up the courage to take the lead since they couldn't find another vocalist. Cinderella got their big break in 1985 when Jon Bon Jovi took a liking to them at the Empire Rock Club in Philadelphia. Bon Jovi said, I saw Tommy Keifer onstage delivering some pretty nifty, growling vocals. Then he whipped out this Les Paul and proceeded to lay into some astounding sounds. This guy struck me as a star right then and there. It didn't take long for every rock fan to have albums Night Songs, Long Cold Winter and Heartbreak Station in their music collection. Keifer also cemented a sterling reputation for a being a dynamic composer credited for monster hits like Gypsy Road, Coming Home, Heartbreak Station, Don't Know What You Got, Shake Me and more. Just when things were on the up and up for Keifer and his band everything came crashing down when he lost his voice, which was due to the paralysis of the left vocal cord. Everything snowballed from there and the band called it quits in 1995. Keifer soldiered on and retrained himself on how to sing again. Cinderella came back together in 1997 and hit the road in 1998. They went back on tour in 2000 and in 2002, crisscrossing the nation. Four years later, they celebrated their 20th anniversary with a tour that included Poison. Keifer said a new album with Cinderella is certainly a possibility but the time frame is still undecided. He released his own effort in 2013, The Way Life Goes.

Tom Keifer Albums

Tom Keifer's issued his first solo album, The Way Life Goes, in 2013. In a January 2013 interview with HuffingtonPost.com, Keifer explained: The idea for a solo record started in the nineties when the band parted ways and we left Universal. There was just a changing of the guard in the industry at that time and I started thinking about a solo record. I wrote for it for many years and the songs just kept going on the pile and I never got around to actually making a record... We started cutting tracks for this record in 2003 and I went to the pile of songs that had been building up and picked some that I liked and I've just been working on it ever since. It was produced independently of a label, because the idea from the beginning was to just work and record until I was happy with it. I wrote with a lot of different people - my wife, Savannah, who's a great writer, co-wrote a lot of the songs on the record and also co-produced the record with me, and a good friend of ours, Chuck Turner, who's a great engineer and producer. So from the beginning, the attitude was, 'Let's have fun and just make a great record and it'll be done when it's done.' Little did we know it'd be nine years later... it's done and we went through some crazy stuff and mixed and remixed and reworked things over and over and probably made a lot of mistakes along the way, but finally got it where we were all happy with it, so here it is.
