The Wild Feathers first took shape in 2010 comprised of Joel King, Preston Wimberly, Ricky Young and Taylor Burns. All of the members used to be lead singers before joining forces to establish The Wild Feathers. They also found they shared an appetite for groups like the Allman Brothers, Led Zeppelin, The Band and Tom Petty.
Ricky and I wanted to do something with a bunch of singers, not just one lead, King said. With Young adding, I wanted to do something greater than I could do on my own. To create something bigger than any one of us individually and write great songs that last the test of time.
Eventually the bandmates picked up and relocated to Music City where they signed on to the Warner Bros. label. It didn't take long for them to support legendary artists like Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan. The band's first self-titled album dropped in 2013.
We make songs that I could never write on my own, said Young, even if I worked from now until I die. But with these guys and what they bring, it's easy. Burns added, We're making something better than we could have ever done by ourselves.
''Currently, The Wild Feathers has one studio album called The Wild Feathers, which came out in the summer of 2013. For this initial effort, the band recruited Jay Joyce (Emmylou Harris, Cage the Elephant and the Wallflowers) as their producer.'
'Did you know that The Wild Feathers members originally flew solo? Yes, it's true. But even though they emerged onto the music scene on their own, it didn't take long for the group to find their melodious sweet spot. In fact, Joel King said the group is a match made in heaven.'
