Originally formed as a cover band singing their own renditions of songs by the Sex Pistols and Squeeze, The View's members attended school together. They started out performing their own material and cover versions at school talent shows. Eventually, they bounced around playing at gigs and small venues in their hometown. Dedicated to a pair of blonde hairdressers from Dundee who go by the moniker, wasted little DJs, their debut single, Wasted Little DJs, landed on the MTV2/NME charts. And their album, Hats Off to the Buskers, was nominated for the 2007 Mercury Music Prize.
