Left coast pop meets garage rock in the Mowglis, and the result is a long playlist of soundtracks to life that has shot this six-person alternative band to the top of the charts time and time again. The band's major hits include San Francisco, I'm Good and The Great Divide, among many others.
Always on the go since they gained popularity, The Mowglis have performed on the Tonight Show With Jay Leno and Jimmy Kimmel Live, and boast appearances at many major festivals including Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits. With love as a major theme in their music, fans were not surprised when the band's lead singers Josh Hogan and Katie Earl got engaged in late 2016.
Named after the character in Rudyard Kipling's famous The Jungle Book, The Mowglis started in a garage in Southern California, where Matthew Di Panni, Dave Appelbaum, Spencer Trent and Andy Warren all attended Calabasas High School together. The band released its first singles in 2010, but it wasn't until their first LP, Sound the Drum, hit the airwaves in 2012 that The Mowglis tickets began selling out on the alternative rock circuit.
In 2013, one of the band's original singles, San Francisco, hit No. 1 on several different alternative music charts, and The Mowglis tour went nationwide, where they headlined for bands like Royal Teeth and Blondfire. On a roll ever since, The Mowglis tickets continue to sell out grand old venues like the Troubadour in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, their 2015 hit I'm Good, which illustrates the band's commitment to putting out positive and uplifting messages, rose high on the charts.
It should come as no surprise that a band that sings about making the world a better place would also support a variety of charitable causes, and The Mowglis are a shining example of practicing what you preach. After all, the band performed live in front of Los Angeles City Hall for the Occupy protesters back in 2011, sharing the stage with activists like Danny Glover and bands like NOFX.
Since then, The Mowglis have turned to supporting important social causes. In fact, the hit single I'm Good was originally released as part of an anti-bullying campaign. The 2014 album Kids in Love featured the charity single Room for All of Us in support of the The International Rescue Committee. In 2016, just after their third LP for Photo Finish Records, titled Where'd Your Weekend Go, hit the air The Mowglis also put out Times Are Still Changing -- a single designed to encourage people to flock to the polls for the upcoming election.
