The Machine - A Tribute to Pink Floyd tickets

The Machine - Pink Floyd Tribute Band tour dates

Welcome, my son. The name The Machine meant many different things to Pink Floyd when they introduced it on their Wish You Were Here album. To them, The Machine meant the music industry, it was also society and it was the new EMS VCS 3 synthesizer that played so big a role in their music at the time. Today, The Machine has taken on a new meaning. It's the New York-based tribute band that has recreated the mind-bending live performances of Pink Floyd for a new generation of fans. The Machine is one of the pioneers of the modern tribute band craze. Their multi-media, multi-sensory shows continue to dazzle audiences around the world.

The origin of The Machine

The second track on Pink Floyd's deeply personal album Wish You Were Here was Welcome to the Machine. The album was the band's love letter to Pink Floyd founder Syd Barrett, who was driven to madness and never returned. The cover band The Machine formed in 1988, after the original members of Pink Floyd broke apart in a series of very public feuds over the nature of art itself.

The working parts of The Machine

In The Machine, Joe Pascarell takes over the part of David Gilmour on lead guitar and lead vocals. Ryan Ball stands in for Pink Floyd's other co-founder and main songwriter Roger Waters on bass and backup vocals. Scott Chasolen plays keyboards and handles vocals in place of the scholarly Richard Wright. Finally, Tahrah Cohen is the drummer who replaces the playful Nick Mason.

The experience of seeing The Machine

Like a true Pink Floyd show, The Machine combines music with projected video, light shows and huge blow-up props like the famous floating pig from the Animals tour. Expect to chill out to music like Interstellar Overdrive, which recently regained popularity for being prominently featured in the Marvel film Dr. Strange. Other perennial fan favorites include Money, Comfortably Numb, Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun and See Emily Play.

The albums covered by The Machine

The Machine's shows demonstrate that the impact of Pink Floyd's most popular creations cannot be overstated. Fans often call out for covers of the songs from the Pink Floyd album The Dark Side of the Moon, which was one of the best-selling albums of all time for more than a decade. The Machine also performs hits from the album/tour/movie The Wall, which single-handedly created the genre of the rock opera. The Machine covers Pink Floyd's entire catalog, from their earliest psychedelic instrumentals led by Syd Barrett to the chart topping, pop-flavored A Momentary Lapse of Reason, which was produced after the Roger Waters left the band. The Machine's pitch perfect renditions of Floyd favorites have even earned the praise of Pink Floyd producer Bob Ezrin.
