Known for their three-hour-long sets and high-energy dance parties, Washington, D.C., septet The Legwarmers embrace 1980s pop culture like few others, covering the music of everyone from A Flock of Seagulls to AC/DC.
Guitarist Gordon Gartrell and singer Cru Jones founded the tribute band on a whim in 2002. What began as a side project turned into a successful full-time band that today is more than a decade old.
The Legwarmers' complete repertoire includes more than 200 songs, allowing the band to rotate through several crowd-pleasing sets. They eschew pre-recorded material and automated equipment, and crowd sing-alongs are commonplace at their live shows.
Costumes, wigs and shoulder pads are all part of the experience, and ticket holders are encouraged to dress the part, too. Among The Legwarmers' setlist favorites are: A Flock of Seagulls' I Ran, AC/DC's Back in Black, Bon Jovi's Livin' on a Prayer, Cyndi Lauper's Girls Just Wanna Have Fun and Journey's Don't Stop Believing.
