The Joffrey Ballet Tickets

'The Joffrey Ballet Tickets'

'The Joffrey Ballet started as the Robert Joffrey Theater Dancers in 1956. It was a six-dancer ensemble that traveled from one place to another to spread the beauty of dance and ballet. Today, they are situated in Chicago where they will be moving to the Lyric Opera House for performances in the fall of 2020. Their season begins in the fall and runs through the spring. They maintain the influence of Joffrey (who was among the first to mix modern dance moves with ballet), which is probably their claim to fame as other dance companies have picked up the style, too. They consider themselves a world-class ballet company that is also committed to the community and dance education. There is a strong belief in artistic excellence and innovation that live audiences can clearly spot during any show they attend.'

'From Humble Beginnings to Setting the Standard'

'When you attend a performance by the Joffrey Ballet, you see the finished product of countless hours of practice and training that went into rehearsing. This particular ballet company sets the standard for many others. In 1956, when visionary Robert Joffrey and his group of five other dancers put together the Robert Joffrey Theater Dancers, their determination to spread their love for ballet to others was relentless. The ensemble traveled in a rented U-haul where they towed their costumes and recorded music. They performed in school gymnasiums, on university campuses and in small-town theaters. For the next 50 years, they would be the first ballet company to integrate modern dance with ballet. When Joffrey passed, choreographer Gerald Arpino took over and carried on Joffrey's vision.'
