'The Get Up Kids Background'

'

The Get Up Kids is a well-known emo act composed of Matt Pryor, Rob Pope, Jim Suptic, Ryan Pope, and James Dewees. Together, these five musicians have released some of the biggest hits in the second-wave emo movement. The band formed back in 1995 in Kansas City, Missouri, where a majority of the initial lineup went to high school together. Right after the members graduated from high school, The Get Up Kids began releasing their own music, including works like A Newfound Interest in Massachusetts and Shorty/The Breathing Method. Their early releases caught the attention of Doghouse Records, who signed the Get Up Kids and released the band's debut full-length album, Four Minute Mile. Critics, fans, and labels all began raving about the Get Up Kids' debut work, and before long they were being courted by major record labels like Geffen, Vagrant, and Sub Pop. All of a sudden, The Get Up Kids was one of the biggest names in the emo and indie rock realms, and they were just getting started!

After making such a grand entrance onto the indie music scene, the Get Up Kids continued to climb their way up to the very top of the indie rock realm. Their distinctive emo sound earned them countless fans around the world, and their dynamic live shows continued to earn rave reviews time and time again. If they weren't in the studio recording a new album, the Get Up Kids were touring extensively throughout the world, often teaming up with bands like Weezer, Hot Rod Circuit, and Green Day to put on knockout shows. The Get Up Kids had achieved such significant success over the late '90s and early 2000s that fans were completely shocked when the band announced their breakup in 2005. Fortunately, the Get Up Kids reunited a few years later, and now they are gearing up for another round of knockout live shows. Whether you have seen the Get Up Kids in action several times before or have yet to catch this beloved emo act in concert, you definitely don't want to be caught without your tickets to an upcoming Get Up Kids show in your neck of the woods!
