Located in the heart of Lubbock, the Texas Tech Red Raiders have been a formidable football force for a long time. While they may lack a long list of trophies like some of their close rivals, their history carries names such as the MVP of the last NFL season, Patrick Mahomes, and the winner of multiple Super Bowls with the
New England Patriots
, Danny Amendola. Fans also won't soon forget the timeless and legendary win over the
Texas Longhorns
in 2008 when the Red Raiders shocked the nation and won by scoring a long-throw touchdown in the last second. The team's home games take place at the state-of-the-art

After the departure of Kliff Kingsbury at the end of the season in 2018, Texas Tech hired Matt Wells to lead the football program. He signed a six-year contract with the Red Raiders after accumulating a career-long record of 44 wins and 34 losses. Wells' major accomplishments come from his days at Utah State University where he held positions such as the quarterback and offensive coach for a few years. He finally reached the head coach position in 2013 and spent the subsequent five years leading the

If there is one thing that the Red Raiders are known for, besides throwing tortillas at the beginning of home football games, it is the tailgating that happens before, during and after all sporting events. Students, fans and parents gather all over the university's enormous campus to watch the team play while the constant revving of pickup trucks, muscle cars and lifted Jeeps becomes the elevator music for the scenery characterized by endless red shirts.
