'Steven Trout was named head baseball coach at Texas State on July 1, 2019. He started with the Bobcats as a volunteer assistant in 2009. He spent the 2016-2017 season as an assistant coach. From 2018 to 2010, he served as associate head coach. He also spent three seasons as an assistant coach at West Virginia and one as head coach at Texarkana College. Trout is known for producing hitters. During his stay at West Virginia, his team produced some of the strongest offensive stats in the Big 12 Conference. In 2014, three Mountaineers batters went No. 1-3 in batting average. Trout has helped prepare four Bobcats players for the Major League Baseball draft since returning to the Bobcats in 2016.
