''The Tampa Tarpons are the Class-A Advanced affiliate for the New York Yankees. While the Tarpons' history with the Yankees dates back to the mid-1990s, the organization boasts one of the longest and brightest histories of any Minor League organization. The Tarpons really cemented their legacy during a 27-season tenure as an affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. The first season under the Reds' umbrella was the team's finest, as they not only won the Florida State League title but went 90-44. In 1988, however, the Reds moved the team to Greensboro, N.C., and Tampa was without a team until 1994. It was the New York Yankees that brought Minor League Baseball back to Tampa in 1994, winning the city's first championship since those 1961 Reds. After four more league titles in the next 14 seasons, it was announced that the Yankees were bringing back the name Tarpons, which the team has gone under since 2018. Dating back to the days with the Reds, the team saw names like Johnny Bench, Ken Griffey Sr., Pete Rose, Paul O'Neil and Dave Concepcion come through on their way to the Major Leagues. After the transition to the Yankees' organization, Hall of Fame players like Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera spent time playing in Tampa on their way to becoming beloved Yankees. Much of the stadium is designed in a way to mirror Yankee Stadium in New York, including Yankees logos placed around the stadium. The stadium was initially built in 1996 and has a seating capacity of 10,386.
''David Adams' first season as the manager for the Tampa Tarpons is 2020. Adams, a Yankees draft pick in 2008, made it to the Big Leagues with the Yankees for 43 games during the 2013 season. His playing career spanned nine seasons, including Minor League stops with the Yankees, Orioles, Marlins and Blue Jays. Retiring at the end of the 2016 season after playing for the Blue Jays allowed Adams to begin a coaching career with the Yankees. Adams spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach in the Yankees farm system before being named the Tarpons' manager.'
