Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter, dancer, actress and reality TV star Tamar Braxton emerged onto the music scene through her five-member sibling group, the Braxtons, which included Towanda, Trina, Traci and Toni Braxton. The group issued one track, Good Life, which placed at No. 79 on the Billboard R&B charts. Eventually, the group was dropped, and Tamar Braxton consequently kicked off her solo career in 2000. 'Tamar Braxton Background'

'

Like her five siblings, Tamar Braxton began singing when she was just a toddler. Her mother, Evelyn, who was an amateur opera singer who spotted her children's talent when Tamar belted out, Somebody give me some toilet paper! and her sisters harmonized along. The Braxtons were also part of their church choir, where Michael Braxton, their father, was a pastor. Toni, Traci, Trina, Towanda and Tamar issued their debut single, Good Life in 1990. It would be their only single as a quartet. Good Life did not make it as a hit, but did land at No. 79 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles chart. After Toni Braxton embarked on her successful solo career, the remaining Braxtons served as backup singers for Toni's debut U.S. tour, promotional appearances and music videos. Tamar, Trina, Towanda and Traci all appeared in Toni's music video for Seven Whole Days from her eponymous album. In the early summer of 1996, Tamar, Towanda and Trina came out with So Many Ways. The album landed at No. 26 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts. It served as their first and only LP.

Later on, Tamar met up with rapper/producer Christopher Tricky Stewart. She cut her first solo album, Ridiculous. The album generated two singles Just Cuz and Let Him Go, in hope of capturing the attention of the public. When the songs didn't meet that goal, the album was scratched. Tamar was also included on 4 The Love of You (Sole).

Love and War arrived next in December 2012. The lead track, Love and War, climbed to No. 1 on the U.S. iTunes chart, and it also scored No. 57 on the Billboard Hot 100 as well as No. 13 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. She issued The One as the second single from the album, which charted at No. 34 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. All The Way Home dropped in August 2013, cracking the Billboard Hot 100. It also placed at No. 37 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The album itself came out in the fall of 2013. It turned out to be a commercial success in the U.S., topping sales off at 114,000.
