Globally recognized musician Steve Vai has collaborated with several artists over the years, including Whitesnake and David Lee Roth. His popularity spread when he was vaulted into the mainstream public eye in 1985 after joining David Lee Roth's post-Van Halen supergroup, The David Lee Roth Band. The band was comprised of Roth on lead vocals; Vai on guitar; Billy Sheehan on bass; and Gregg Bissonette on drums. The foursome's few albums did well on the Billboard 200, with their first album landing at No. 4 and their sophomore effort, Skyscraper, peaking at No. 6. Eventually, Vai left the band and joined Whitesnake for a time and played on the Alice Cooper album, Hey Stoopid. While Vai continued to work with other musicians, he maintained a solo career, which is still going strong today! While Vai was attending Berklee School of Music in Boston, he perfected his guitar skills and eventually was asked to be and became a part of Frank Zappa's band.
