Post-college, after years of teaching summer camp music, Augeri returned home to work as a session vocalist. His big break came in 1984 when he was hired as background vocalist for one of the world's most renowned hard rock guitarists, Michael Schenker of UFO and Scorpions fame. Later, while shopping for a new guitar, Augeri met Jack Morer (guitarist) and the two men eventually formed the group Tall Stories, along with Kevin Totoian on bass guitar, and Tom De Faria on drums. Tall Stories was nominated for Best Debut Album, and Augeri for Best Debut Male Vocalist, at the 1992 New York Music Awards. When the band dissolved in 1995, Augeri started writing songs with Brooke St. James of Geffen's hard-melodic rock band Tyketto, and join edthe group as their lead vocalist. The album Shine was released in 1995, with a subsequent tour of Europe resulting in the album Take Out and Served Up Live in 1996. In 1997, Augeri received a phone call about a tryout to front the legendary rock band Journey, and the following year he was named the group's fourth lead vocalist. For the next eight years Augeri and the band toured nearly endlessly to reclaim their standing as one of America's premier rock bands. The song Remember Me, from the seven-times-platinum soundtrack album from the movie Armageddon, represents Augeri's recording debut with the band, followed by the album Arrival in 2001, and the EP Red 13, in 2002. The album Generations, released in 2005, would be his last studio album with the group, after his departure due to illness mid-tour in 2006. But the success of the band was further verifying when the live DVD of their Las Vegas concert, titled Journey 2001, acquired platinum status. Now you can come listen to all of Journey's greatest hits and more when Steve Augeri makes his next stop in your town. Buy your music tickets today, because
