Humble Beginnings

Spring Awakening didn't start out as a massive music festival. At first, it was a seasonal concert series held in Chicago. 2012 was the first year that it transitioned into being a full music festival after four years of being a theater event. The transition was simply a result of the concert series outgrowing its venue. While it was previously considered to be a local event, people travel to attend Spring Awakening today from around the world. This is a result of the festival booking some of the most relevant producers and DJs on the national and international electronic music scene.
