South Dakota events

Situated on the Great Plains, the mention of South Dakota brings to mind Mount Rushmore, the world-renowned cliff carving of the likenesses of four presidents, and the beautiful Black Hills, an isolated mountain range to the east of the Rockies. South Dakota's cultural centers include the state capital of Pierre, located almost exactly in the center of the state; to the east, Sioux Falls, the state's largest city; and to the west, Rapid City, the second-largest population center, located near Mount Rushmore. Wherever you find yourself in the state, there are entertainment and culture options to keep you busy during your stay.

South Dakota venues

Head to Sioux Falls, South Dakota's largest city, to take in the musical talents of the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra at the Washington Pavilion. Check out The District for performances by some of the most exciting touring bands and musicians, or check things out at the Icon Event Hall and Lounge. Just to the north is Brookings, South Dakota, where the South Dakota State Jackrabbits Football take the field at South Dakota State University.

Head across the state to Rapid City to experience the many museums and sights to be seen at the foot of the Black Hills. Nearby, enjoy class-A performances and other entertainment at the Deadwood Mountain Grand or one of the other area casinos.
