The Snake River Stampede is an offshoot of the Nampa Harvest Festival that dates back to 1911. After two years of the Harvest Festival, the organizers opted to add a bucking contest to the soiree, and that was how a rodeo attraction was first added. This bucking show continued in this way, getting larger all the time, until 1937 when the rodeo became a national event, separated from the festival to become its own thing, and got named the Snake River Stampede. In 1950, a new stadium was built that seated 10,000 rodeo fans, and entertainers began being added to perform during halftime. In the '80s, more attractions were added to the bill. Attractions now include ladies bull-riding, team roping, bullfighting and mutton busting. The rodeo also includes bareback bronc riding, steer wrestling, tie-down roping and the popular Snake River Stampeders Night Light Drill Team. Nearly every world champion rodeo athlete has taken part in the Snake River Stampede at some point in their career. In 1997, the Snake River Stampede moved into its new home at the
Ford Idaho Center

In 2014, Nampa's Snake River Stampede was nominated and approved for the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame. The induction took place in Colorado Springs, Colorado, at the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame headquarters. Some other notable inductees over the years have been the

There is a Rodeo Club at the Ford Idaho Center as part of the Snake River Stampede. This club overlooks the arena floor of the Ford Idaho Center and allows for exclusive access of its members. Meals and beverages are provided depending on the event at the club, and there are various levels of membership available.
The Snake River Stampede offers a $450,000 payout and is considered to be one of the top rodeos in the country.
Attendance is around 60,000 for the duration of the festivities.
The Ford Idaho Center is one of the top multi-event complexes in the Pacific Northwest. The Snake River Stampede is an event geared toward people of all ages. For families, there are several events that would be well-suited for everyone. Some of these events include pancake breakfasts, calf scrambles and others. One very special day at the Snake River Stampede that is geared specifically for the young ones each year is the Rodeo Matinee. This is a special alcohol-free family day where children that are 12 and under get in free of charge.
