'Orpheum Theatre History'

'The Orpheum Theatre in Sioux City opened as a theater and moving picture house in 1927 and staged many famous entertainers during Hollywood's Golden Age, including Fred Astaire, Katherine Hepburn and Kirk Douglas. Throughout the years, the theater was converted to a one-story movie house and then re-converted to a twin-screen theater before closing to the public in 1992. In 1999, the theater underwent major interior and exterior renovation before re-opening in 2001 with a performance by Bill Cosby.'
