'San Diego Gulls Tickets'

'The NHL's Anaheim Ducks purchased the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League (AHL) in 2015 and moved them to Southern California. This move birthed the San Diego Gulls and launched a hockey tradition that has drawn over 1.2 million fans to Pechanga Arena in San Diego in their first four seasons alone. Although Southern California may not be known as an obvious hotbed of ice hockey action, the Gulls have plenty of local rivals. NHL teams have nearby affiliates in Ontario, San Jose, Stockton and Bakersfield. The Gulls and their California opponents play against each other in the AHL's Pacific Division. To the delight of their quickly growing fan base, the team enjoyed a run of success right from the start. After winning their first-ever home game against the Grand Rapids Griffins in front of a sellout crowd of 12,920 people, they took second place in the Pacific Division and advanced to the Calder Cup Playoffs. Since then, the Gulls have made three playoff appearances in four seasons. The Gulls average almost 9,000 fans per game, second in the AHL. Grab your tickets at StubHub and catch the excitement of a San Diego Gulls game on the ice.'

'Who is the San Diego Gulls' head coach?'

'In July of 2019, Kevin Dineen became just the second head coach of the San Diego Gulls. He succeeded Dallas Eakins, who had guided the Gulls for four seasons. Eakins was promoted to head coach of the parent team, the Anaheim Ducks. Dineen came to the Gulls after serving as an assistant coach for the Chicago Blackhawks' 2015 Stanley Cup championship team. He also coached the NHL's Florida Panthers from 2011-13, leading the Panthers to their first Southeast Division title in 2011-12. Dineen served as head coach of the AHL's Portland Pirates from 2005-11. He was named the AHL's outstanding coach in 2005-06. As a player, he spent 19 seasons with Hartford, Philadelphia, Carolina, Ottawa and Columbus.'

'Where do the San Diego Gulls play their home games?'

'Built in 1966 as the San Diego International Sports Center, Pechanga Arena is a multi-use facility that seats 12,920 fans when configured for Gulls ice hockey games. It is considered San Diego's leading destination for sports events and live entertainment and has played host to many top performers and athletes over the years. It was the site of Ken Norton's victory over Muhammad Ali in 1973 and hosted Eamonn Coghlan's world record-setting one-mile performances in 1979 and 1981. In addition to sporting events, Pechanga Arena has seen many iconic music acts grace its stage, including Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Elton John. Today, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, U2, Bruno Mars and Justin Bieber regularly entertain music fans of a new generation.'

'What conference do the San Diego Gulls play in?'

'As of 2018-19, the Gulls joined the Tucson Roadrunners, the Colorado Eagles and all of the AHL's California teams in the Western Conference, Pacific Division. The division was first created when the Gulls moved from Norfolk, Virginia, to San Diego in 2015. The Gulls made the Pacific Division finals in their first two seasons in San Diego. In 2019, the Gulls defeated the Bakersfield Condors to advance to the AHL's Western Conference finals for the first time in the organization's history. The Gulls own the Pacific Division's best playoff record with 17 playoff game wins. They also lead in playoffs series wins with four total. They are the only Pacific Division team to advance beyond the playoffs' first round more than once.'

'What are some of the most-anticipated 2020 games for the San Diego Gulls?'

'In just four seasons, the Gulls have formed strong rivalries in the Pacific Division. They lost to the Ontario Reign in their first playoff appearance. Their 2019 playoff victories over Bakersfield and San Jose naturally fuel rivalry games with those teams as well, so fans can expect strong-fought match with all of these rival teams in the upcoming season.'
