The San Diego Civic Theatre opened in 1965 in the middle of the entertainment center of San Diego with its premiere performance by the San Diego Symphony. San Diego Civic Theatre seating has a capacity of 2,967. If the orchestra pit is in use, seating will be reduced. You will have the option to sit on the main floor, referred to as Orchestra seating, the Dress Circle, the Lower Loge, the Mezzanine, the Upper Loge and the Balcony.
Many of the best San Diego Civic Theatre seats are located in the President's Club section of the main floor. If you have a difficult time hearing, you might want to select seats as close to the stage as possible or ask for a pair of audio assistance headsets. Keep in mind that the primary seating on the main floor does not have an aisle to break up the long rows. If you need to get up during a performance, you might want to choose aisle seats or another section.
Public transportation to the San Diego Civic Theatre is quite accessible given that the theater is located in downtown San Diego. The Civic Center trolley station is home to the Blue, Orange and Silver lines. There are also several bus stops within a few blocks of the theater.
You will not find onsite parking due to its downtown location. However, the Wells Fargo Parking Plaza is the primary parking garage for San Diego Civic Theatre events. It is important to note that this garage can fill up quickly, so the theater recommends that you

Each level has at least one concession stand for your convenience. You will find wine, beer, soft drinks, candies and brownies. It is also possible to find more artisanal foods and desserts at the Beverly Sills Salon on the second level. And the theater offers special group receptions and pre-parties before performances if you arrange them in advance.
