Home to the family-friendly River Walk, the historic Alamo and Six Flags amusement park, San Antonio is also home to a local MiLB baseball team, the San Antonio Missions. Formed in 1968 and settling into an AA class, the Missions called many venues home over the years, including Tech Field, Mission Stadium, VJ Keefe Memorial Stadium and Municipal Stadium. Landing at Wolff Stadium in 1995, the San Antonio Missions are currently coached by Ned Yost IV and managed by Rick Sweet. Currently a nationally recognized team, it took an immense amount of hard work and dedication for the Missions to get there. Notable players, such as Mike Piazza, Jose Lopez and Ramón Martínez paved the way for others to follow. Affiliated with the Padres since 2007, the Missions are the Padres’ AA affiliate in the Texas League. In 2018, the San Antonio Missions joined the AAA Pacific Coast League.
