Founded in 1849, Sacramento is one of California's oldest cities, and it shows in the rich history and culture that pervade America's Farm-to-Fork Capital. As diverse as it is storied, this fascinating city weaves in many historical and cultural backgrounds to create an entertainment scene that will have you wide-eyed and grabbing at every experience you can.

Sacramento venues

As California's capital, Sacramento boast an extraordinarily rich arts and culture scene. You can catch local bands playing live (for free!) at Cesar Chavez Plaza or pony up to check out the lineup at favorite local concert venues such as Ace of Spades, Harlow's Night Club or The Shady Lady Saloon (don't worry, it's worth it).

Sports fans will have plenty to savor here. Basketball fans can take a seat at Golden 1 Center to see the Sacramento Kings of the NBA take the court. This is a stage they share with major touring acts, as the Golden 1 Center also hosts world-renowned musicians on the caliber of Lady Gaga, Janet Jackson and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

If basketball isn't your style, check out the Sacramento River Cats, a triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, which play for the PCL on Raley Field. Sacramento is also home to the Sacramento Republic FC, who play at Papa Murphy's Park.
