This local ballet company has a diverse repertoire with compelling performances. , the Sacramento Ballet was originally founded in 1954 by Barbara and Deane Crockett, who were from

San Francisco

. Barbara Crockett became the company director over time. The company grew to become recognized as one of the leading arts organizations in Sacramento. They have performed a diverse and varied repertory, including works by Septime Webre, David Parsons, Kathryn Posin, Agnes de Mille, Glen Tetley, Val Caniparoli, Trey McIntyre and Twyla Tharp. As a company with professional touring, The Sacramento Ballet visits diverse communities through its touring program. It performs throughout the Sacramento Valley and has danced as far away as Washington, Hawaii and Victoria, B.C. The first international Sacramento Ballet tour happened in 2007, in the PeopleÕs Republic of China, with performances in Shanghai and Beijing. The Sacramento Ballet reaches approximately 40,000 participants each season through its extensive Education and Outreach program as well.
