RuPaul Andre Charles had been into the arts since his early years, even moving to Atlanta where he studied performing arts. With his work as a filmmaker, musician and backup dancer, RuPaul was able to get his big break when he danced in the

Love Shack video. This opened doors, allowing him to deliver drag performances throughout various venues in Atlanta. However, the break that took him from local celebrity to international superstar, was the release of his dance album titled
Supermodel of the World
. This led to a modeling gig with MAC Cosmetics, a spot on VH1 as a talk show host as well as the release of an autobiography. Shortly after his rise in popularity, RuPaul went on to develop and launch the show
RuPaul's Drag Race
, and drag queens came from all around the country with hopes of becoming America's Next Drag Superstar. Hosted by RuPaul himself, the show has been said to have changed the way that the LGBTQ community is portrayed in mainstream media.
