Comprised of English musicians Jake Roche (vocals, guitar), Charley Bagnall (guitar), Lewi Morgan (percussion), and Danny Wilkin (bass, keyboard), Rixton burst into existence in 2012 under the moniker of Relics. The band members would meet one another during their formative years while in high school and through mutual acquaintances via their local music scenes. Hailed as the next wave of pop rock boy band, Rixton has been on a non stop trajectory to stardom ever since.
Rixton's original formation would begin in 2010, when long time friends and classmates Jake and Danny began songwriting together. The duo would fall into musical lockstep and form a close partnership that would continue to grow for two years before they invited music scene regular Charley Bagnall into the band. The trio would eventually stumble upon master of percussion Lewi Morgan, finalizing the lineup of Rixton under the leadership of Roche.
The band would shape themselves in the mold of various modern Brit pop sensations from the last decade, including Maroon 5. Their first forays into fame would stem from their doing zany covers of various top 40 pop artists, from Taylor Swift and Rita Ora to such hit singles as R. Kelly's Ignition. It was these works that would eventually pique the interest of talent managing mogul Scooter Braun, who would send the band into the studio for them to record their first ever original full length album. The band would be signed into contract under the impressive and extensive Interscope Records umbrella, where they would be teamed up with music producing guru Benny Blanco.
Generating tons of hype with their sneak peek singles from their upcoming album, Rixton has already undertaken serious tour engagements including an opening act at the Texas' SXSW music festival. The band has already performed with some of the biggest pop sensations around today, including Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande.
Rixton's earliest break came not through the traditional record label based promotion and marketing, but instead through the band utilizing YouTube to build an early following. The hit video Make Out would be a montage of mockery of modern pop music, mashing up and poking fun at numerous hits from the last decade including Miley Cyrus' Wrecking Ball and Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines, amongst others. The video would be a viral YouTube sensation with nearly two million views, and would put the band on the radar screen of multiple major labels.
The band's first studio single would drop in early 2014, charting across the globe and building up anticipation for their first debut full length. Me and My Broken Heart would make its debut on LA's KIIS FM and receive particularly warm reception in the US, Sweden, and Australia. Me and My Broken Heart has expectations exceptionally high for Rixton, with all eyes on the pop world awaiting eagerly for their debut album to drop.
The band's debut single has been a hit for such a new band, selling nearly 500,000 in just three months. The single would be certified gold and the band has already received their first gold plaque at an event in NYC.
According to the band, they picked up Lewi Morgan when they found him outside of a small bar in Manchester - displaying his drumming skills to the world while banging on various pots and pans in the middle of the street.
