Richie Kotzen Background

Although Richie Kotzen is known for his spectacular guitar playing skills, he first started out his musical education on the piano. After picking up piano when he was just five years old, Kotzen discovered KISS a few years later, and immediately decided to start learning how to play the electric guitar. For the next decade, Kotzen honed his guitar skills, and he soon became one of the best guitarists in the entire country. By the time he had turned 19, Kotzen had already recorded his first solo album, which he released on Shrapnel Records. For a couple of years, he worked on creating his own music and making a name for himself as a rock guitarist, and by the time he was 21, he had gained enough recognition and acclaim that he was invited into the band Poison.

Kotzen helped co-write songs on Poison's album, Native Tongue, which spawned two hit singles, Until You Suffer Some (Fire & Ice) and Stand. After his successful run with Poison, Kotzen went on to join a few other popular bands, such as Mr. Big and The Winery Bands. During this time, Kotzen also worked on his solo career, releasing several albums to positive reviews. In fact, he had become such a reputable rock star that he even opened for The Rolling Stones on their Japan leg of the Bigger Bang Tour. In 2013, Kotzen joined the Winery Dogs, a rock supergroup that has been the talk of the rock world throughout the past year, but he has still maintained a steady solo career.

Whether you see Richie Kotzen rocking out with The Winery Dogs or as a solo artist, you definitely won't be disappointed. This talented guitarist has had an incredibly successful and prolific career as a rock guitarist, and now he is getting ready to showcase his insane skills at a venue near you! Secure your spot in the audience at one of Kotzen's upcoming shows and head to StubHub today!
