Revolverheld is a rock band from Hamburg, Germany. As one of the most successful bands in Germany, they perform all over the world, including America, Europe and more. As a part of the tour MTV Unplugged in Three Acts – Live, Revolverhead’s impressive feat comes from being the 11th German band featured.
Formed in 2002, Revolverheld went through multiple name changes, such as “Tsunamikiller” and “Manga.” However, after the Indian Ocean earthquake in 2004, the band settled on Revolverheld, which means “revolver heroes,” an idea meant to convey a message of sticking together and “not picking a fight.” Members include Johannes Strate, Kristoffer Hunecke, Niels Grotsch, Jakob Sinn and Chris Rodriguez.
Originally starting out as an opening act for famous German bands such as Donots and Udo Lindeberg, Revolverheld’s song “Rock n’ Roll” led to a coaching program at the Popakademie Baden-Wurttemberg – a public music university. Once their first official single “Generation Rock” debuted, Revolverheld’s fame grew as they made their way onto German music charts left and right.
Known for their edgy, alternative rock sound, Revolverhead signed in 2004 with Sony BMG and have many awards, including a 1 Live Krone German Award for Best Newcomer in 2006 and a 2014 ECHO Music Prize for Best National Rock/Pop Band. Achieving what many German bands never have the chance to, they have also placed on Hamburg’s Top 819.
Their music includes four studio albums, Revolverhead, Ghaostheorie, In Farbe and Immer in Bewegung, which was how they won ECHO Music Prize. Their first album, Revolverhead, went platinum. Their third and fourth albums In Farbe and Immer in Bewegung went gold. Popular songs include “Spinner,” “Halt dich an mir fest (Hold On To Me Tightly)” and “Das kann uns keener nehmen (No One Can Take That From Us).”
Their concert features popular songs such as “Generation Rock,” “Die welt steht still (The World Stands Still),” “Ferunde bleiben (Remain Friends),” “Ich lass fur dich das Licht an (I Leave The Light On For You)” and many more. Revolverheld takes pride in their live performances, bringing not only the sounds of voices but also a full orchestra with strings, brass and multiple other acoustic instruments. Many special guests appear, such as famous Austrian singer and songwriter Julian Le Play.
