Republic New Orleans (NOLA)

Republic New Orleans - NOLA's Eclectic Nightclub Hot Spot

The Republic, located in the Warehouse/Arts District in downtown New Orleans, is a must-see if you find yourself with a little time, a sense of adventure and an openness to visiting one of the most diverse night spots in town. The Republic is the embodiment of sophisticated elegance and classic beauty that you would expect to find in one of Louisiana's most eclectic cities.

Republic History

Serving first as a warehouse, the Republic has housed the Australian Pavilion for the 1984 World's Fair, been a prop in the movie JFK, and served as the home of the Howlin Wolf. Finally, in late 2005, the managing partners of the Republic opted to create a space that would not only pay homage to the historical significance of the 150-year-old building, but also reflect the diversity of expression for which New Orleans is so well known. Today, the Republic has been renovated to create a classy, upscale environment that is both artfully sophisticated and welcoming to all who pass through its doors.

Republic Events

Club-goers pack the Republic New Orleans all weekend long for a lineup of events like no other nightspot in New Orleans. Friday night is Throwback DJ night and Saturday night features various DJs playing everything from hip hop to electronica. In addition to their Friday and Saturday night fare, the Republic has played host to R&B musician Cashmere Cat, lo-fi artists Mountain Goat and the Loft Club Mardi Gras Takeover featuring Cursor, KTRL and RedBarrington.

Republic Seating Layout

As you would expect, the Republic managed to maintain the look and feel of the original warehouse space in the interior layout of the building. The main room on the first floor boasts 4,000 square feet of space that hosts two bars, a stage and a generous dance floor. This main area offers a cocktail lounge and high-top seating and can comfortably accommodate up to 700 people.

The second floor is a 2,500-square foot mezzanine terrace overlooking the open area below, with another centrally located bar. The Mezzanine offers a cocktail lounge and can accommodate up to 200 people.

New Orleans, Louisiana

Downtown New Orleans is famous for diverse art, festivals and an unforgettable nightlife. Within walking distance of the Republic, visitors may find The Contemporary Arts Center, a cultural hot spot featuring art exhibitions, live stage show performances and concerts. The nearby Tipitina's in the French Quarter offers guests an opportunity to experience food and entertainment that is uniquely New Orleans.

Trivia

Built in 1852 by the Montgomery family, the Republic began as a warehouse and was constructed for storing produce, coffee and other agricultural crops before shipment down the Mississippi River.
