The Reno Aces became the Triple-A affiliate of the
Arizona Diamondbacks
before the 2009 season. Before moving to Reno, the team was located in Tuscon, Arizona, and known as the Sidewinders. Tuscon had a long relationship with the franchise now known as the Aces before the move. Beginning in 1962, the team has had affiliations with the Chicago White Sox, Oakland A's, Texas Rangers, Houston Astros and Milwaukee Brewers before aligning with the Diamondbacks in 1998. During their first five seasons in Reno, the Aces were managed by former Major League Baseball star, Brett Butler. In Butler's five seasons at the helm, he guided the Aces to the Pacific Coast League playoffs twice, including a league championship in 2008. Since Butler's departure, the Aces have been to the playoffs twice, including a league championship loss in 2014. Under the leadership of their current manager, the Aces finished second in the Pacific Coast Northwest Division. Get your Reno Aces tickets today at StubHub.
''Chris Cron is in his second season as the manager of the Reno Aces. While it's only his second season, it's Cron's 21st season as a manager in professional baseball. In his first season as the Aces' manager, Cron posted a record of 66-74. Before he arrived in Reno, Cron had already established himself as a successful manager, having won two Manager of the Year awards, made eight playoff appearances and won the Pioneer League Championship in 2008. During his first season at the helm, the Aces saw eight players pass through Reno and make their Major League debut including Coach Cron's son, Kevin Cron. While Cron spent only six games as a Major League Baseball player, he did have a lengthy, 12-year career in the Minor Leagues consisting of 1,250 games. As a manager, Cron has a career record of 1,193-1,223.'

Considered Northern Nevada's premier sports and entertainment venue, Greater Nevada Field is the home of the Reno Aces. Originally constructed for the Aces' relocation to Reno, the 9,100 seat stadium is now also home to professional soccer as the
Reno 1868 FC
also play their home games there. Although Reno is the smallest market in Triple-A baseball, the Aces boast the highest home attendance per capita, thanks in large part to their downtown stadium.
''Not only do the Reno Aces have an established history of putting players in Major League baseball, but the 2019 season saw every postseason team have at least one player who spent time in Reno during their career. The Tampa Bay Rays had three former Aces: Chaz Roe, Michael Perez and Anthony Banda. Oakland A's pitcher, Yusmeiro Petit and Yankees slugger, Didi Gregorius were also Aces. The eventual World Series champion Washington Nationals boasted four former Aces on their roster during the 2019 season. Patrick Corbin, Gerardo Parra, Jeremy Hellickson and Daniel Hudson are all Reno Aces alumni.'

Every year, the Aces play against intrastate rival, the
Las Vegas Aviators
in the Silverstate Diamond Challenge. Since the teams are in the same division, they play each other 16 times every season, and the winner of the most games lays claim to the Silver Plate Trophy. Interestingly, the inaugural season of the rivalry saw the season series end tied 8-8. To settle the tie, the mayors of each city met at home plate of the Ace's stadium and drew cards to determine the winner.
