James Dewees created a sensation in the late 1990s and early 2000s with his solo project called Reggie and the Full Effect. It became an endearing, strange and entertaining group that has entertained audiences for more than a decade. When Dewees started the group, he had no idea that it would become a national sensation and fans would be lining up to come see him perform his quirky music.

Reggie and the Full Effect almost began as a joke, with Dewees handing out recordings of his solo keyboard work on cassette tapes at concerts for The Get Up Kids. But one man saw the potential in Dewees' unique take on punk rock-electronica music, and encouraged him to send it to a record producer. It wasn't long before the musician was recording music for real and performing his solo style on stage for thousands of people. Today, the group is back in action and ready to bring their devoted fans what they really want—to see them performing live on stage. The band is currently on tour and will be making stops in Denver, Minneapolis, Cleveland, Boston, New York and many more cities across the country. Although Dewees often has other band members when he is playing a live set, it is not unusual for the musician to play a majority of the instrument while recording his music. He can play bass, drums and keyboards with great proficiency and even performs his music in different styles under two alter egos—Fluxuation and Common Denominator. Both are as unique as Dewees and his quirky brand of rock music. And although his lineup changes from show to show, his live performances have included members of The Get Up Kids, Coalesce and The Esoteric.

About the Artist

James Dewees was a performing as a member of The Get Up Kids when he began recording some solo music. He recorded four songs on a cassette tape and jokingly handed them out at concerts. But when he gave one to seasoned musician Matt Pryor, the singer urged Dewees to contact a producer and record the material. With the help of his cheerleader, Matt Pryor, Dewees recorded the first album under the Reggie and the Full Effect name entitled Greatest Hits 1984-1987 in 1998. The album was well-received and soon Dewees was recording his second full-length album, Promotional Copy. Although the music was widely popular, Dewees' quirky way of packaging and selling music wasn't always popular. The artwork on the cover of the Promotional Copy CD made it look like the CD was an actual promotional copy. Fans didn't get it right away, but the album was still popular.

And then in 2003, Dewees further confused fans when he released his album, Under the Tray. Fans were mystified when they opened their new CDs and didn't find the album in its usual resting spot. Instead, it was under the tray, waiting for the fan to get the joke. Because of the confusion, the record label reissued the CD with new cover art that told fans where to find the CD. The album spawned the popular single Congratulations Smack and Katy, which was the subject of Reggie's first music video and was featured in the video game Burnout 3: Takedown.

Throughout the next few years, Reggie and the Full Effect continued to be a popular band among punk rock, electronic and dance music fans throughout the country. With its unique blend of these genres, the music had mass appeal. But in 2008, the band decided to embark on their farewell tour.

However, the farewell didn't last long. The band was back together two years later, performing and working on a new album. Fans were delighted and critics sung their praises. In 2013, the group started a Kickstarter campaign to fund their latest project, No Country for Old Musicians. Fans showed up in a big way, helping the band get the money they needed to complete their latest album. Now, they are touring across the country, thanking fans by performing their latest music and some of their greatest hits. Be there to see this legendary band take the stage once again.
