'Ray Chen grew up in Taiwan, where he was already proficient on the violin at age four. Before he was ten, Chen had already completed all 10 levels of the Suzuki Music Education in Queensland, Australia. Not only did his teachers realize his talent, but others began noticing the young boy's skills as well. Soon he was asked to perform with the Queensland Philharmonic Orchestra. He was only eight-years-old. He was also invited to perform at the opening celebration concert of the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagan, Japan. He went on to win several prestigious awards and scholarships that helped him advance his career and hone his already sharp skills. Some of his awards included the Sydney May Memorial Scholarship of the Australian Music Examinations Board, first prize in the Australian National Youth Concerto Competition and first prize in the 2005 Australia National Concerto Competition. Evenutally the talented musician caught the attention of record label executives, and in 2010, Chen was signed to Sony Classical. He began recording some of his favorite pieces including the Cesar Franck Violin Sonata and the violin concertos of Pyotry Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Felix Mendelssohn. Chen has performed with some of the most prestigious orchestras in the world, recently performing with the La Scala Philharmonic at the Verbier Festival. And he received standing ovations when he performed at the Ravinia and Schleswig-Holstein Festivals where he played with the Munich Philharmonic. And he will soon be playing for the Nobel Prize concert in Stockholm. There seems to be nothing this talented musician can't do. With his genius-level skills on the violin, and his amazing stage presence, he captures every audience he plays for. You won't want to miss seeing this talented violinist in person!
