The Raptors 905 is a Minor League affiliate of the
Toronto Raptors
. This Canadian team serves as an important developmental program for the NBA. Although most players on the roster are NBA free agents that anyone can sign, players who are under contract with the Toronto Raptors can be sent down or recalled by the team in accordance with G League rules. Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment purchased the franchise in 2015 and named it for the Greater Toronto area code, which includes the city of Mississauga. After a year of growing pains, the Raptors 905 had their best season in 2016–2017. The team won the division title and then beat the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in a three-game final to clinch the championship. Head Coach Jerry Stackhouse won Coach of the Year honors. ''In the team’s young history, two players have taken home G League MVP honors. Lorenzo Brown, a second-round draft pick from NC State, scored nearly 19 points and nine assists over 32 games in his 2018 MVP season. Chris Boucher, an undrafted player out of Oregon, averaged 27 points and more than 11 rebounds in his 2019 MVP season. NBA star Pascal Siakam had a brief stint with the 905 and earned the 2017 Finals MVP honors. He had 32 points, 10 rebounds and five steals in a spectacular Game 2 finals victory. After missing the first half of Game 3 with an injury, he came back to have a big night with 17 points, seven rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocks.'
'In 2019, the Raptors 905 tied for second place in the Atlantic Division and third in the entire Eastern Conference with a 29-21 record. In the first round of the playoffs, the Raptors beat the Grand Rapids Drive in a thrilling 91-90 overtime game. However, the team was eliminated by the eventual Eastern Conference champions, the Long Island Nets, by 112-99 in the second round.'

The Raptors 905 2019-2020 schedule consists of 50 games between Nov. 8, 2019, and March 28, 2020. This includes four games against each of the team’s four divisional foes: the

''Jama Mahlalela is the head coach of the Raptors 905. He joined the Raptors organization as the director of player development in 2011. After moving to the bench for the 2013 to 2014 season, Mahlalela assisted with game planning, team practices, skill development and off-season programs. He has also played a role in the Giants of Africa camps and the NBA’s Basketball Without Borders program. Mahlalela became the Raptors 905 coach in June 2018.'
