''The Purdue Boilermakers volleyball team has collected numerous AIAW and NCAA tournament appearances over the years: 22 to be exact. The Boilermakers have also won three NCAA Big Ten championships back in the 1980s. In the 1990s and early 2000s, the team suffered a 10-plus year absence from NCAA tournament play but got back on track in 2004 when they made it to the NCAA second round. Since that year, the Boilermakers have only missed two years of tournament appearances. Equally impressive as their post-hiatus tournament record is the list of recent alumni and current star players on the Boilermakers' roster, including Grace Cleveland, who was a sophomore in 2019. As a freshman, Cleveland posted 10-plus kills over the course of 13 games, including 19 of them while playing Iowa. Blake Mohler, a senior in 2019, earned a sixth-place Big Ten ranking, thanks to her impressive hitting record that consisted of 316 kills and 623 attacks. ''Dave Shondell is the fourth head coach of the Purdue Boilermakers volleyball team. He joined the team back in 2003 after the Boilermakers had failed to make it to NCAA tournament play for over 13 years in a row. By 2004, under Shondell's guidance, the team finally made it back to the NCAA Tournament. That year, the Boilermakers produced a respectable 17-15 record and beat out four teams that were ranked in the top 25. The next year, the Boilermakers posted an impressive record of 25-9 (the most wins for the team since 1985) and made it to the NCAA's Sweet Sixteen, which they hadn't done since 1987. A few years later in 2010, Shondell led the Boilermakers to their first NCAA Elite Eight appearance since 1982, beating a fifth-ranked opponent for the first time ever in Boilermaker history and producing an overall record of 24-11. Since then, the Boilermakers have had numerous 20-win seasons and tournament appearances.'
