'Dave Shondell is the fourth head coach of the Purdue Boilermakers volleyball team. He joined the team back in 2003 after the Boilermakers had failed to make it to NCAA tournament play for over 13 years in a row. By 2004, under Shondell's guidance, the team finally made it back to the NCAA Tournament. That year, the Boilermakers produced a respectable 17-15 record and beat out four teams that were ranked in the top 25. The next year, the Boilermakers posted an impressive record of 25-9 (the most wins for the team since 1985) and made it to the NCAA's Sweet Sixteen, which they hadn't done since 1987. A few years later in 2010, Shondell led the Boilermakers to their first NCAA Elite Eight appearance since 1982, beating a fifth-ranked opponent for the first time ever in Boilermaker history and producing an overall record of 24-11. Since then, the Boilermakers have had numerous 20-win seasons and tournament appearances.'
