Providence events

As the state capital and largest city in Rhode Island, it stands to reason that Providence would be as flush with culture and possibility as it is. Providence is home to a fairly large student population, thanks to the proximity of the Brown University, Providence College, the Rhode Island School of Design and others. This large student body contributes to a fresh influx of arts and culture in an already historic city.

Despite its small size, Providence is still home to a variety of professional sports teams that fans can enjoy. Head over to the Dunkin Donuts Center to see the Providence Bruins take the ice. A development team for the Boston Bruins, the Providence Bruins have appeared in the playoffs 20 times and have taken home the Calder Cup once. Providence is also the home city of the Providence Sky Chiefs of the Premier Basketball League.

If you're looking for a place to enjoy live music, Providence has many excellent options. One of the local favorites, Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel, hosts a regular rotation of popular musicians that has included the likes of Meatloaf, The Ramones, Justin Bieber, Green Day and many others. The Parlor Bar & Kitchen is another locally popular venue for live music.
